The Security Talent Awards & Recognition (STAR) program was designed to enable a culture of appreciation that fits our work environment while bringing value to the department and allowing Security Services people managers from Blackstone Consulting, Inc., and Allied Universal to showcase the great work and impact security teams have in the care experience.
Security Services STAR Program Life Saving Award
Awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the department, performed extraordinary life-saving measures, preventing loss of life.
Healthcare Security Officer Jiquelill Jordan from West Los Angeles, SCAL
Alert hero! On July 27th, 2023, a patient, who was experiencing feelings of suicide, was brought to the emergency department by the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Police Department. They were dropped off in an exam room and given the opportunity to change into our hospital gown. While they were changing behind the curtain, Security Officer Jordan was observing from outside the room. Officer Jordan observed an orange glow inside the room and immediately jumped into action. The patient had lit her shirt and some bedding on fire. Officer Jordan put out the fire within seconds, preventing any harm from happening to the patient or the patient care area!
Security Emergency Department Specialists Daniel McFarlane, and Jjesus Macias from Santa Rosa Medical Center, NCAL
On August 6th, 2023, Emergency Department Specialists Daniel McFarlane and Jjesus Macias responded to a suspicious person calling them. When they arrived, they discovered a young male attempting to harm himself. The officers immediately helped the subject and brought him to the hospital lobby, where the subject was able to receive the proper help and be safe. Thank you to these amazing officers, the subject did not sustain any injuries and a life was saved!
Security Services STAR Program On-the-Spot Awards
Awarded to staff members recognized by a manager, colleague, visitor, member, patient, or external department staff for their great service.
Campus Protection Officer Manuel Vallejo, Richmond Medical Center
Campus Protection Officer
Vallejo stopped a violent suspect from injuring a client's employee. Officer Vallejo and other officers detained the suspect until law enforcement officers arrived on scene.
Healthcare Security Campus Protection Officer Scott Soza, Richmond Medical Center
Healthcare Security Campus Protection Officer Soza shielded a client's employee from a violent attack. Officer Soza was injured and received medical assistance as a result from the altercation.
SOC Specialist Ariana Arellano from Riverside Medical Center, SCAL
SOC Specialist Ariana Arellano is a loyal and hard worker, a team player, and assists with tasks outside of her normal job duties. She has been in the contract for almost 10 years and deserves to be recognized for her amazing work.

Awarded to staff members (or their next of kin) who, while serving in any capacity within the security services department, have been killed or seriously injured while caring for the safety and security of the workplace.
Awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the department, performed extraordinary life-saving measures, preventing loss of life.
Awarded to selected team members nominated for demonstrating consistent high performance and continuous improvement for their customers and in service delivery (subcategories with all department positions are available).
Service Milestones Award
Awarded to team members completing important service milestones such as 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 year anniversaries! No nomination needed.
