Star Program
The Security Talent Awards & Recognition (STAR) program was designed to enable a culture of appreciation that fits our work environment while bringing value to the department and allowing Security Services people managers from Blackstone Consulting, Inc., and Allied Universal to showcase the great work and impact security teams have in the care experience.


Security Services STAR Program Life Saving Award
Awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the department, performed extraordinary life-saving measures, preventing loss of life.
AUS ED Specialist Asfar Ahmed
South San Francisco Medical Center, NCAL

Alert hero! On April 19th, 2023, Security Emergency Department Specialist Asfar Ahmed went above and beyond by alerting the Triage Nurse that an infant patient was needing immediate attention in the waiting area. The infant was having difficulty breathing, and there was a long line for registration. EDS Officer Ahmed’s alertness and decisiveness in calling for help saved the infant’s life.

Alert hero! On April 3rd, 2023, a 35-day-old baby was brought into the emergency room by their parents. Security Officer Wright was manning the front door and noted that the patient was cyanotic and in respiratory distress upon arrival to the lobby. Due to her concern, Officer Wright immediately alerted a nurse to examine the baby, who was found to be unresponsive and not breathing. The infant was roomed for immediate resuscitation. All protocols were followed and the patient was intubated. Because of Officer Wright’s alertness and swift response, emergency medical treatment was provided, and the patient’s life was saved.

Patrol hero! On June 28th, 2022, while performing exterior patrol, Supervisor Stephanie Johnson found an unresponsive individual laying in the gutter near the entrance of the facility. She immediately followed escalation protocols, getting the proper medical support needed at the scene. The individual regained consciousness and was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The individual was at the facility to assist their mother with a medical appointment when the episode happened. Supervisor Johnson’s quick action saved this person’s life!


AUS ED Specialist Michael White
Antioch Medical Center, NCAL

True hero! On April 6th, 2023, Officer Michael White stopped a suspect from killing an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the public restroom. Officer White is being labeled a hero by Law Enforcement and the Doctors. They stated if Michael had not responded the way he did, the EMT would not be alive today.

Awarded to staff members recognized by a manager, colleague, visitor, member, patient, or external department staff for their great service.

Security Supervisor Armando Herrera from Fresno Medical Center, NCAL

Security Supervisor Armando Herrera always goes above and beyond their basic duties to deliver the best service to assist members and staff. Supervisor Herrera is a great team player - always willing to help their colleagues and has excellent customer service skills. services.

Security Campus Protection Officer Ricardo Torres-Bravo from San Francisco - Geary Medical Center, NCAL

Security Campus Protection Officer Ricardo Torres-Bravo saw a discharged non-member displaying inappropriate behavior and running full speed at a physician who was walking to his car from the ED. Officer Torres reacted immediately by sprinting toward this individual. Torres was able to get in front of them and prevent a potential assault on the physician. After a video review, CPO Torres received positive recognition for his immediate response.

Security Officer Jerry Slack from Petaluma Medical Offices, NCAL

Security Officer Jerry Slack was conducting his patrol rounds and identified a large water leak in a sensitive area. His attention to detail and fast escalation prevented further damage to the property. He has received positive feedback from colleagues, members, visitors, patients, and other staff about great customer service.

Awarded to staff members (or their next of kin) who, while serving in any capacity within the security services department, have been killed or seriously injured while caring for the safety and security of the workplace.



Awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the department, performed extraordinary life-saving measures, preventing loss of life.
Awarded to selected team members nominated for demonstrating consistent high performance and continuous improvement for their customers and in service delivery (subcategories with all department positions are available).
Service Milestones Award
Awarded to team members completing important service milestones such as 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 year anniversaries! No nomination needed.
